Heading into year four of the TMR Customs Off Road Racing Series – one thing is very clear – there is a huge appetite for hard-core off road racing in Ontario!

It seems like just yesterday that we had the idea to start our own race series and try to grow the sport here at home. We contacted five existing local events and asked if they each wanted to have their event be part of our series. All five hopped on board and the rest is history. Having a proper series meant there were unified rules and vehicle classes for each event as well as a points chase, which guaranteed that more competitors would attend each race.

Fast forward to 2019 – most cars in the series are 100% purpose built race cars. From the stock class on up to unlimited class this is hard-core racing at it’s finest. Stock Class is defined by max 37” tires, stock frame & body, stock style suspension and steering. Modified Class consists of some stock frame & body, 43” max tire size and a maximum of 14” travel shocks. Unlimited class is just that – any tire size, any suspension and any steering.

Each event attracts an average of 25 – 35 competitors spread across the 3 classes.

The 2019 season kicks off with CrawlFest on May 25th. CrawlFest takes place on natural terrain. It’s a mix of rock, loose dirt and treed sections. It’s a time attack style event with one vehicle on the course at a time.

The second event takes place at Toronto Motorsports Park on June 15th. It’s a wheel-to-wheel race on a short course track with a section of large rocks to put drivers and vehicles to the test.

The third race of the season takes place on September 7th in Capreol. 2019 will be the first ever wheel-to-wheel endurance race running multiple laps on a 10km loop.

The season finale, Thunder in the Hills happens at Ray’s Place in Minden on September 21st. The Thunder in the Hills course is tightly treed with large rock climbs, loose dirt and mud. It’s a time attack style event where the fastest time of the day wins.

After the season wraps up we host a year-end awards banquet to award the top three drivers in each class as well as announce the schedule for the following season.

We would like to extend a huge thanks to all the drivers, spectators, sponsors and event organizers that make this series great. The racing is highly competitive but everyone is willing to help each other out and make sure everyone goes home with a smile on their face.
